Wet, Wet, Wet

Plaston International Corp 32838 Digital Ultrasonic Tower Humidifier - 3.5gallonMy Classic Freedom brother-in-law requested this pixie tip on humidifiers as he wants to get the best one, but is efficient/practical enough to know that someone else probably knows what that is, so he’s going to save himself the time and take our word for it.

Being an Organic Freedom, I went a little crazy researching the best looking and best functioning humidifier (us Organic Freedoms tend to do that when researching). And after finding the right one, I got one for each bedroom and office, very proud that I had actually finished this task! But then my Smart Freedom husband, disgusted with the natural iron deposits from the water, (it looks dirty, so logically it must be dirty) decided to wash them without reading the instructions. He ruined them all by lazily (Smart Freedom action) putting them in the dishwasher. So, deep breath, I started my search over and now have three good brands for you to choose from.

Don’t get the cold mist vaporizer. Unless it has an anti-bacterial wick, you have to be the most attentive Classic in the world to keep these babies clean. Every week, at least. Okay maybe that doesn’t seem daunting to you, but all other types would rather do anything else. Besides, not a practical use of your time when there are better humidifiers out there.

The hot mist (turn it off if you’ve got kids and they’re awake and playing near it) is the best for the rest of us because it boils the water up, killing all the bacteria in the process. I have personally used and can recommend Enviracaire® (3 gallons in two separate containers) and Air-O-Swiss® (good size, great design) and the cheap drugstore middle of the night croup find, Vicks® (just throw it away at the end of the season). They recommend cleaning it every two months, I (one might say the laziest of all types, Organic Freedom) say give it a good clean at the start of each flu season and then hide it away when Spring is in the air. And I think I read that two month thing somewhere, but can't remember now. Did I mention I could be lazy??

So, there you have it … Enviracaire®, Air-O-Swiss® & then Vicks®.

BEST FOR ALL
