Plumber Butt Fashion Challenge

Now I'm sure this problem doesn't bother the bootylicious women of the world, but for this mama, one of the hardest parts about staying clothed while pregnant used to be keeping my pants from falling off my rather flat butt. Okay fine, one of the hardest parts about wearing trendy low rise jeans whether I was pregnant or not was keeping those things from falling off my apparently flat as a board butt! Now, however, we flat bootied girls have a miracle product from maternity wear land that keeps your pants from falling down, with or without child.

Sadly I forgot about this fashion miracle until my pants were down around my ankles. This clothing invention came upon the scene after my last child was born. The Bella Band or the Tummy Sash. My little sis discovered it four years ago and frankly, after a ruptured ovarian cyst that I've never quite recovered from, I gave them a whirl myself because good luck finding a trendy pair of tight blue jeans that doesn't bind at the lower belly while also staying up upon your flat butt. During the worse of my ruptured ovarian cyst recovery I resorted to buying maternity pants and then wearing them with the belly band to keep them up.

I'm also VERY impressed with how the maternity pant situation has improved since I was pregnant six years ago. Pea in the Pod calls their new belly panel "Secret Fit Belly" and it replaces the tight binding waistband and turns into a comfortable stretchy band of fabric that reaches to right below your waist and magically keeps those pants from falling down. I do have a little trouble with one pair of jeans — the heavier the fabric the more they tend to creep downward — but so far I've really only needed the belly band for a heavy cotton pair of cargo pants that doesn't have a Secret Fit Belly. I'm seriously considering buying these jeans for after the baby and as long as I have a belly and the residual pain from that damn cyst.

So here's my fashion tip for the bootyless girls out there who want to ride their pants down low — either grin and bare the painful waistband, or let go and join the belly band revolution!
