Fun Fridays

Last week, I was sipping chardonnay in the same spot where I learned about the entire development of our planet before I turned 6 years old. Seriously, I know words like Mesozoic and Cambrian purely from my 5-year old memory bank. This elementary school reunion (do other people have these? Or is it just some Montessori thing? Regardless, it was beyond fun to reconnect with classmates from pre high school.)

Let Them Eat Cake

No offense to Applebee’s but if you opened a Christmas gift to find a gift card for $50 to Applebee’s you could be excused for thinking the person simply forgot to buy you something and in a panic got a gift card en route when they stopped off for gas.

Luxuriate

While not everyone loves a massage, most do. And honestly, I love them so much that I am admittedly unable to grasp the concept of why someone wouldn't like them. We got it from a forum on a website sure to please. www.flickstongue.comThis is what you shout out in our family on Christmas morning when you’ve just opened a great gift. It’s a nod to a line from the Christmas morning scene in the cult classic movie, “A Christmas Story,” filmed partially in downtown Cleveland (our hometown). Below are some gift ideas for different Pixie types that will hopefully get you the equivalent shout out on Christmas morning of “Whoopee, a Zeppelin!”

Gifts That Keep on Giving.

We first heard about Angie’s List from our mom (a.k.a the Queen Fairy) who uses it to find service providers for her house (tree trimmers, handymen, roofers, doctors, dentists, etc.). It’s such a brilliant concept. A lady named, yes you guessed it, Angie, started said list when she became frustrated trying to find good local contractors in Indiana.  To compile the initial Angie’s List she went door-to-door gathering reports from friends and neighbors on local service providers. Now the List is online, it’s national, it’s fantastic, and an annual membership to it is a great gift idea.
